Keep Out Layer

Hi

what do I use the layer “Keep Out Layer” too?

all other do I get.

I don’t know about everyone else, but I haven’t used it. I think it’s one of those layers that you’ll know what it does when you actually need it.

I assume you're talking about Eagle? You could be a little more clear.

In Eagle, the keep out layer is normally defined in the package drawing for a part. It defines a reccomended area for where you should keep other parts and traces out of. I personally just ignore it.

It’s very useful. epsecially if you have a part that is metal (usb connector. for example). It’s a lot better to catch it in DRC than when debugging your board. This is especially true if you autoroute as the autorouter will repsect the keepouts. Even if you route by hand (like you should be doing), it’s too hard to keep track of the keepouts in your head.
