I’ve built a few PIC projects using (usually) 16x2 LCD displays. The problem is making a nice window in a box to view the display. Does anyone know a source for suitably sized bevel edged acrylic? I have been unable to find anything to make a decent job of this.
There is [this from Adafruit. Not exactly what you are looking for but perhaps a start.
Are you looking for a bezel ?
You can also print one out of Avery (or similar) clear label sheet and an inkjet printer. I have a hunch they look better on inkjet than laser.
DigiKey do have just the sort of thing I was after and they have a UK site. BUT a suitable bezel costing me £2.74 (very good) will cost me £12 shipping (very bad!!).
Printing a bezel is something I hadn’t thought of and could make quite a good looking finish. I only have a laser printer but I may be able to have the use of an inkjet. I would have to glue the ‘bezel’ onto the box with the printed side towards the box and so the glue mustn’t damage the printing. I feel some experimenting coming on.
Thanks guys, one and all.
Doing it with a laser printer works. It’s just that when I’ve done that, its wasn’t as even as I would have liked and I thought an inkjet would do better. Doing it ink/toner side down would be nice for better protection, but I’ve never had a problem with toner side out. I have a few instrument panels I did this way and they hold up quite well.
