Is there a corresponding updated protocol spec for this firmware version? There are quite a few new commands. I’ve looked through the LG290P downloads Quectel has made available but have only found v1.0 from 09-2024.
Hey all. I’ve upgraded my LG290P to v.105 using QGNSS v. 2.1 (Quectel_LG290P_Firmware_Release_V0105S.zip / LG290P03AANR01A05S.pkg / CRC E8E6AC4C).
The upgrade process went fine (admittedly after a few failed attempts), ending with the message “qgnss flash upgrade success”. Then nothing happens. After disconnecting and reconnecting the unit (so it was without power for a few seconds), I get “GNSS Failed to begin. Trying again. GNSS offline” on the serial terminal, and nothing in the QGNSS app (0 satellites, no messages appearing in the console, and no response to any messages written in the console).
Please specify which board U have, how is powered and so on to a satisfactory description…
try to re-flash with QGNSS v. 2.0 at 460800 b. on uart1 (also the v3) and send e.g. $PQTMVERNO*58 $PQTMGNSSSTART*51 perhaps a low power in flashing process caused corruption
I’m working with the Sparkfun RTK Postcard, powered from the USB-C port of my laptop. (Sometimes it was also connected to the Sparkfun portability shield with a 1100mAh lipo, but with or without that shield the results are the same.) . I tried QGNSS v. 2.0 as you suggested, but that version’s firmware updater doesn’t react when I reset the lg290p. Tried again with QGNSS v. 2.1 and it shows successful firmware upload, but nothing happens, and still on boot I get “GNSSS failed,” and I get no response when I type anything into QConsole.
The device was working fine before I tried applying the update.
Yes, I followed those instructions. As far as I can tell the firmware has successfully completed several times now – I see the message “qgnss flash upgrade success” – but upon reset I cannot communicate with the device over QGNSS’s QConsole, and when attached serially to the ESP32 I get “GNSS failed” at boot.
The LG290P on my RTK Postcard is functional again: I left it off power for a week, brought it up and it was still dead (no response on the QGNSS console and RTK Everywhere on the ESP32 complains “GNSSS failed”), so I again tried uploading the firmware and this time it came alive. Would certainly like to know why
