LGA package design for Eagle

I’m working with a new regulator from Vicor (The PI33XX family) that comes in a 123 Lead LGA package. The pins are grouped into blocks to provide the Vin, Vout, and Ground connections, with a few single pads used for some of the IO.

What is the best way, in Eagle, to group pads into the same net without having to do this at the schematic level? The power ground block is over 50 pads and I’d rather have just one ground connection in my schematic, but when I go to the board I’d like ground net connections between those 50+ pads.

Power pins seem like the right approach, if only they would let multiple pins on the same part have the same name, and thus automatically be connected to the same net. Another approach would be to allow actual wires in library parts, so if you always wanted to tie an input pin to ground you could for example.

I’m using Eagle 5.9.0 Professional.

Thanks!

You can’t in eagle 5.xx, However they have added the ability to group pins in Eagle 6.xx
