Li_Po Battery Protector IC

Since SFE likes to stock hard to get things and since they sell Li_Po batteries, i think it would be great if they also started selling Li_Po battery protection IC’s as well.

the MM3077 looks like a great protection IC with minimal part count.

How about ya start stocking these :stuck_out_tongue:

I second third and forth that!

Even if its not that exact one im sure Sparky will find a very nice LiPO chip for us.

we have the batteries and chargers, now we need the chips.

Also, another thing to think about would be a simple breakout board and chips available separately which could be used for getting 5v from a single LiPo.

I dont know where to start when looking for a good 5v step-up converter…

i too have been in your shoes with this. After much disappointment in IC’s i have finally found a great IC that does this and works GREAT. ITs also very efficient!!!

TPS63001 - single Li-Po to 3.3v

TPS63002 - single Li-Po to 5.0v

add a few caps and a Teeny Tiny coil and your done!

Some links to help.

NOTE: DO NOT EXCEED the 5.5v input rating!!! that is really the only major caution!

thanks seulater

thats really cool, thanks for that.

Would be cool to see some stepup’s with inbuilt protection

But yes Sparky we need LiPO protector IC’s we have the means of charging and getting power from our LiPO’s, now we need to be able to safley implement them into our designs!

gussy, Seulater helped me out with the lipo backpack and does all the things you want. I approached SFE with this design but they didn’t seem to interested.

hey ohararp,

I have been watching your blog, some cool stuff your making.

I didn’t see a schematic for the LiPO batter pack, is there one there?

The schematic is on page 2 and corrects a minor oversight by TI.

Thats cool, I hadnt seen that page before, only the blog.

Cheers
