LiPoly Charger + Solar panel?

Hello!

I would like to use [this one solar cell with [this one LiPoly Charger (and [battery). At the description of the solar cell it says that they have measured 9.15V open voltage, but the charger is 7v max. Could that be a problem? If yes then how to solve it and if not possible to solve which charger+battery you would suggest for the solar cell?

Thanks!](http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=341)](http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=726)](http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=7840)

You have a couple of options. You can use a dc-dc converter to get the right voltage, a low-dropout voltage regulator, or you could even use a simple zener diode and resistor to help regulate the input to the charger. Any way you choose to do it, I don’t think you can connect the solar panel directly to the charger without a separate circuit to make them compatible.
