is it possible to use the LiPower Shield like this:

solar source -> lipo charger <-> lipo battery (2000mAh)
                      |--------> LiPower -> 5V arduino mega

will this shield report the correct battery status in this configuration ?

Why use a separate charger when the lipower shield incorporates one.
