It looks from the illustration like the Iridium modem uses a “weird” solution, with a connector ribbon going from the module to the modem. Can you change this so that the ribbon is not used, and things are “clean”, as for example with the “click in” configuration here: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/16394 - that is much cleaner.
Hi gDFfRc7VvzfYydHP,
While I would also really like to see the Qwiic Iridium 9603N be offered in place of and/or in addition to the RockBLOCK 9603, unfortunately, I don’t believe it would be possible to make a “click in” solution for the RockBLOCK as you suggest.
The RockBLOCK makes use of the [Molex PicoBlade connector system, which doesn’t lend itself well for direct mounting. The clearance of the RockBLOCK is necessitated by the Iridium transceiver on the other side.
A possible solution could be to simply make the Molex cable assembly shorter (i.e. not hang off the board).
Cheers,

Ok, thanks. I was just surprised by the contrast between the very clean solution of the 9603N and the quite a bit more “dirty” solution of the A la carte. Looks like there are some production issues I do not really understand, and a la carte with slightly suboptimal solution is much better than nothing though .
