Louder sound output

Hi all

I’ve been building some Arduino powered prop “Geiger” counters for friends, and been using a cheap Arduino with a Mono 2.5W Class D Audio Amplifier - and a 3" Diameter - 4 Ohm 3 Watt speaker . I mount the speaker inside an old Geiger mounter and drill enough holes for the sound and cover with a grille. Normally I can get the old meter working with an analog output. Activate them with a tilt switch and we’re done

They look fantastic but are way too soft in volume. This may be a silly question, but should i just move up to a bigger amp and speaker?

Phil

Normally 2.5W would be screaming loud. Did you turn the volume potmeter on the Mono? Is A- on the mono tied to GND? Did you try the amp + speaker with a different audio source (phone?)

Great feedback - I’ll take a closer look… Much appreciated.
