LPC2378 silicon revision on proto board

Hello :stuck_out_tongue:

The LPC2378 will be likely to be the right chip for my next project and I would like to buy an eval board. I read the errata sheet and it appears there are 3 silicon revisions (‘-’, ‘A’ and ‘B’), the two first one have serious issues regarding MAM and Flash.

I’ve found out several eval boards :

Does anyone order one of them since the last weeks ? What about the silicon chip revision soldered on these boards ?

Thank you !

David

I had the same concerns. I wanted to order from Olimex. They said it was dependent on what board came out of their stock, they do not keep track of the revision.

My chip, which was bought a couple of weeks ago states:

LPC2378FBD144

961069.1 06

ZSG0719-Y

which is a format not according to the erratasheet. That is strange and I suppose that the 06 means the year. I don’t think 0719 means 19th week of 2007 because the revision A existed for over a year.

I gues my conclusion is that Olimex ship version ‘-’

grtz,

Jef

Hi Jef,

Thanks ! :stuck_out_tongue:

I contacted my reseller for Keil’s and IAR’s products in France, who called Keil directly after and I got few informations : Keil has just integrated the newest chip B on their MCB2300 boards since few days (a week ago or so). My reseller told me that he could order one without any problem, since they have no stock. The only MCB2300 boards they have in stock are usually for education purpose and use the first revision chip. Regarding IAR boards, I should have a phone call from my reseller at the beginning of next week.

I sent an email to Olimex and they confirmed they “should” solder the last rev chip on their boards as well. “Should solder” is not “will solder”, so I wouldn’t like to receive an former board in which I have to remove their chip to solder a RevB ones.

So I’m waiting for the reply from my reseller about IAR product and then I’ll choose the right one.

Thanks again Jef

For my purpose (leisure time) there were no errors in the chip without a workaround. So for me it was not a big deal. The price was equally important.

Glad I was of help for you. Have fun with the board!

i get 1 from Olimex LPc-2378-STK Rev. B

that’s not fair

Hi again :stuck_out_tongue:

I believe I’m crazy :!:

It would be great if someone could give me the last line on their chip because Olimex told me they didn’t know how to distinguish them in stock and it’s possible they have both. I’ve found no picture on google of RevB according NXP errata sheet… My project use EMI and need speed so it’s important to get either revA or better B version.

Keatac > are you sure it is a Rev B version soldered in your board ?

Thanks again for your help, :stuck_out_tongue:

David

Are you using ethernet with Rev B ? We have problems with ethernet TX and Rev B, Rev - working fine.

Jonas

I’ve just received few Rev B samples from Arrows. Here is the silicon informations :

LPC2378FBD144

SH1794.1 08

2SD0740BY

These chip seems to have been produced at the end of september this year. The ‘B’ marker confirms a RevB silicon version.

I’m waiting for my Olimex board which should arrive in the next few days. If the chip soldered is an older revision, my manufacturer can swapf it with the newest part received

Jonas > Do you check errata sheet about Ethernet issues ? Maybe do you need to change a little bit your code (written for ‘-’ chip with its issues) for the new part ?

David

david_f: Yes i have removed a rev - workaround accordning to errata.
