Hello,
I have a project wherein I want to add a State of Charge implementation to the BMS of a LiPo battery. The LTC4150 is exactly what I need as a Coulomb Counter that can be integrated into a larger system but it is limited in usage for my battery specifications.
I would like to have something like the LTC4150, a Coulomb Counter that can be connected to a microcontroller (an Arduino Teensy 4.1 specifically) and output necessary data to compute the SOC to an accurate percentage format. The biggest issue for the LTC4150 is that my battery is a 7S LiPo, and it would appear the product works best for 1S LiPo.
The battery in question is a HIGH POWER LITHIUM ION POLYMER(LiPo) BATTERY from MaxAmps, with specifications below:
-
BATTERY DIMENSIONS - 158 x 59 x 141mm
-
BATTERY WEIGHT - 2950g
-
BATTERY CAPACITY @ 0.5C RATE - 22Ah (22,000mAh)
-
VOLTAGE - 25.9V (NOMINAL/STORAGE) ; 21V (MIN) ; 29.4V (MAX)
-
INTERNAL IMPEDANCE (1KHZ AC TYPICAL) - 21mΩ
-
ENERGY DENSITY @ Nominal Voltage - 193 Wh/kg
-
STANDARD CHARGE RATE - 22A (1C MAX)
-
BALANCE CHARGE RATE - 110 (5C MAX)
-
MAXIMUM CONTINUOUS DISCHARGE - 220A (10C)
-
MAXIMUM PEAK DISCHARGE - 880A (40C)
-
CYCLE LIFE - Varies per application/usage/care
-
OPERATING TEMPERATURE - 0°C to 60°C
-
STORAGE TEMPERATURE - 0°C to 23°Cv
Is there any alternative similar to the LTC4150 that I can purchase from SparkFun that would be compatible with my higher-power battery and microcontroller? Or is it possible that I can implement the LTC4150 with my battery?
Any advice in general would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!
