Well…, the mill layer is there in my design, and I specify the mill layer in the Eagle CAM processor…, but my slots don’t show up in the Gerbers/Excellon. From what I read, it is necessary to produce a seperate mill file, perhaps? I have the nasty feeling that this might lead to extra$ for fab…, but so be it. Can anyone give a tip on generating the mill file? Assuming that it is seperate (?) from the drill file, how can I be certain that the board house will take care of it? Geeze I hate my own ignorance
Ask the board supplier what they require! I think I supplied a DXF file once when I needed slots in a board, which my PCB software generates.

I do not want to hijack this thread, but on the same token, I looking for some help on creating slotted pads. Basically an oval pad with the plated-through slot for a component that has flat/wide contacts.
When I read the OP’s message, it reminded me of needing to figure this out.
I think there was a thread on this a long time ago, but a search turned up nothing. Google turned up nothing relevant.
What CAM job are you using? The BatchPCB oneBookish:
Well…, the mill layer is there in my design, and I specify the mill layer in the Eagle CAM processor…, but my slots don’t show up in the Gerbers/Excellon.
would not include the mill layer.
If you plan to use the BatchPCB service, slots
and internal routes are not allowed. However,
if you roll the dice you might be delighted with
the results - I was on my PCB.
More info[in this thread.
Another approach is to use chain drilling. (Again this
is not allowed by many PCB houses, but BatchPCB
did a great job on another PCB design that I
submitted. [More info here.](http://forum.sparkfun.com/viewtopic.php?t=5983)](http://forum.sparkfun.com/viewtopic.php?t=13627)
