Max size 10" x 14.5", or 10" x 15"

I’m making a giant multiplexed led display for a school project and want to make it as big as possible. On the batchpcb site it says 15", but on goldphoenix it says 14.5" max dimension, but 155 square inches.

Can anyone clarify this?

Thanks,

Todd

Todd,

I think that you actually pay for 155 but can only use 145. That would make since. They would require some kind of leeway for the edges.

But I’m sure they could clarify this much better, since Batch PCB is not Gold Phoenix.

Batch PCB may know…I’m not sure.

Not to drive business away from sparkfun, love you guys ;-), but for that large of a PCB from batchPCB isn’t really that great of an idea.

For a 10"x14" board from sparkfun, it would cost about $360($10 setup and standard shipping).

The same board from a proto house like sunstone(I use them for all my time-critical stuff), you could get two PCBs for around $320 and you would get them in about a week.

Well…I don’t think you read carefully. I think the original poster was talking about the deal from Gold Phoenix. Which is MUCH cheaper than what you listed. (On both accounts)

I could do a four layer for that price, from Gold Phoenix. But of course the lead time is much larger.

But we do appreciate different views here.

Also, one of the reasons BatchPCB can offer the prices it does is because of the prospect of Gold Phoenix getting large order customers directly.

So it works out perfectly, just the way they were planning. A win win for all three parties!
