I know the minimum billable size is 1 square inch, but how small can you make boards? I’m thinking of making some boards around 0.200 and 0.250 inch diameter circles.
Also, I know the drills range from 20. mil through 0.500 inches, but what hole sizes are available between these?
What’s the minimum board width? Say I want a 0.200 circle board with a hole 0.180 or 0.190 inches in the middle. Would this be possible? (I know it seems like a pointless board, think stacking several of these together with real boards to allow space for parts and wires to run between them…)
You could just use some washers or spacers from the hardware store. Probably much cheaper than having each “washer” custom-manufactured and individually shipped from China.
If you are having a number of laminates made then avoid using drills less than 24 mil as the boardmakers are unable to drill laminates in “stacks” and may charge you for the extra time it takes.
I think you will find that most boardmakers will not drill much above 240 mil, at which point you will need to supply details on “milling” holes larger that this.
Just remember not to try out every size in the rack. The more tool changes, the more your job will cost you!
