modification of ATMEGA128 header board from dontronics

Hi,

My group is having a thesis involving an ATMEGA128 microcontroller. However, we need to test our circuit with the microcontroller first before fabricating our PCB. So, we plan to purchase headers for the microcontroller and we found this from dontronics

http://www.dontronics-shop.com/avr-h128 … ector.html

before we purchase the product, i want to ask a question.

  1. Can the manufacturer change the ATMEGA128 embedded in the board to ATMEGA128L since both microcontrollers has almost the same characteristics?

If yes, do they also change the 16MHz oscillator circuit to a lower value since ATMEGA128L microcontrollers can only take up to 0-8MHz?

Thank you in advance for your reply

I doubt if Dontronics would produce a special version just for your application. Why not design your own PCB and get a couple made. It won’t be expensive. Or, buy some of the Dontronix units and replace the chip and crystal. ChipQuik works very well for chip removal; you won’t damage the pads if you are careful.

How about using this

Hello,

Thanks for the quick replies guys. it seems that n1ist has a good suggestion. but does that mean that we have to get the components for ourselves then just solder it?

thanks!
