Monster Moto Shield High Current Draw

Hi, I just purchased a Monster Moto Shield unit (knowing they’re retired, which is ok). The first time I connected my power supply to the input pins + and - at the bottom, the input current immediately climbed beyond 15 A so I immediately disconnected power to prevent possible damage. This was with no load connected. Now I am confused at how to proceed. Any ideas?

It sounds like there is a short; share a photo of the soldering

So far only test leads to the input and the header pins soldered.
I’m usually quite OK with my soldering in spite of age and tremours…

Tell me if I can send close-ups of anything?

Resistance over the input terminals is 600 Ohm

Did you inherit this used or something? It looks like it has been soldered to before (orange area)

I do see what might be some problem areas…namely the purples spots appear to be corroded

and there might be a bridge between VIN and GND on the left side…perhaps try cleaning those up a bit to see or re-solder…you could also test across the MOSFETs and see if they’ve shorted
