I recently acquired the sparkfun NEO-F10N in hopes of conducting studies using the L1 and L5 bands. While the unit seems to work fine, I found that I am unable to convert the recorded ubx file into RINEX observation data. I know from previous experience with u-blox products that this is related to the UBX-RXM-RAWX message.
Is there a special firmware that allows the logging of rawx messages to be enabled? Or perhaps a workaround that allows for RINEX observation files to be generated? Any help in regards to how I can acquire the raw GNSS data would be great.
Sorry, the NEO-F10N does not support the UBX-RXM-RAWX message. It’s only available on u-blox High Precision (HPG) GNSS modules. The NEO-F10N is Standard Precision (SPG). Our cheapest HPG boards are probably the NEO-M8P (L1) followed by the NEO-F9P (L1/L5).
We’ve also had good results from the LG290P, but there you need to configure it to output RTCM which can be converted to RINEX.
Oh i see, thanks for this. That explains why uBlox lists the F10N as a product with carrier phase output. Its a shame they opted to remove the RAWX feature, would’ve made for a wonderfully cost effective solution for L1/L5.
I’m guessing theres also no alternative firmware or possible add-on either that would allow for this?
That used to be the case… Although, going back a few years, the NEO-M8T (timing variant) did output RAWX and was significantly cheaper than the NEO-M8P.
I wasn’t aware of that new NEO-F10N -20 variant. Thanks @clive1 !
We only carry the standard non -20 variant… And I’m not seeing any -20 stock at any of the usual suppliers. Perhaps it is currently only available direct from u-blox?
