Hi there, I need help before buying anything, basically I’ve got a second hand laptop that is missing one capacitor, and I believe because of that I’ve got no backlight on the screen , could anyone help me with this problem?

It’s hard to say if just replacing the capacitor would fix your issue. There could be other things wrong with the backlight circuit other than the missing cap, but that’s probably a good place to start.
If you know the value and rating of the capacitor, a replacement part might be found on the SparkFun website but if we don’t have anything that works, Digi-Key or Mouser Electronics might have a replacement.
If you don’t know the value and rating, it could get tricky and you will likely need to obtain a schematic that lists that or contact the manufacturer to see if they can give you that data. Once you know what you’re looking for, it should be somewhat simple to find a replacement part.
