No SBAS Sats Used

I have seen only one SBAS satellite on the u-center reception bar window, a GPS 13x (can’t remember the exact number), but it was in dark blue (not used). I changed the SBAS mode in my ZED-F9P to “Auto Scan” but still haven’t seen any locked in. Is this normal?

Also, I’m seeing some reception bars in baby blue (maybe magenta) when in TIME fix mode. What does that color mean?

Thanks in advance for the help,

Rob K9OJ

I would think it’d depend on where you are and the selected settings; check out page 12 here and/or the color schemes in the preferences menu for a breakdown of their meanings

You need a very clear view towards the equator (to the south in North America.) The SBAS SVs are geosynchronous and are thus in equatorial orbit.

If you’re using RTK in an NAD83-based datum, you may actually want to disable the SBAS SVs in your receivers. The SBAS don’t use NAD83 as a reference and if you lose the RTK base or network reference comm link, your rover will switch to something more like WGS84 (I forget the exact details but you can search the internet for more info.)

Thanks TS, I took a look at the u-center/Tools/Prefs/Color.

The color I was asking about was cyan and it means the satellite is ready for use but not in use.

[tried to upload a screen capture of the color window but I get an http error]

toeknee, I think you nailed it. My antenna is temporarily on the north side of the house while I set up the RTK caster so the south is pretty blocked.
