OpenScale calibration problems

I have a 500 g mini load cell connected to an OpenScale. (RED, BLK, WHT, GRN on screw terminal header.) The calibration process on the firmware is not giving me consistent results. For example, I place a 279 g object on the scale and use it to calibrate one point, and then place a 93 gram object on the scale, and I get 108.3 g. I am careful to tare zero (menu 1), calibrate (menu 2) and then check another object. The scale shows zero and the calibration weight correctly, but other objects are not correct. I am using a 500 x 0.01 gram scale as a calibration source, and it’s calibration checks. I used the kg option, inputting fractions, such as 0.279.

I have the 500 g load cell mounted and everything is clear with no interference. Do I have the wiring right? What else am I missing?

Can you share screenshots of your calibration sequence?

Does the scale repeat when a given object is weighed a few times?

It may be the wrong number but is it the same wrong number?

And does it return to zero when unloaded?

You sometimes need to perform a linearity calibration.

However, this is normally to correct much smaller errors than you’re describing.

Tried again, 500 g load cell apparently failed. Replaced, now everything works as advertised. Load cell issue, brand new, but these small load cells are easy to damage, may have been my fault.
