I recently picked up AS7265x Triad Spectroscopy Sensor https://www.sparkfun.com/products/15050 and I had a few questions. I am looking to use this sensor to try and analyze water samples, and
I was you could tell me
How thick the water sample should be to ensure the best readings?
What would be a good material ( or series of materials) that should be used
as a back wall of the sample?
How much isolation should we have from outside light sources?
If outside isolation would be required then what material would be best to
ensure proper sensor operation?
Your answers will be a great help, thanks everyone very much.
Since we haven’t tested this kind of setup we can’t guarantee any suggestion. I would suggest that you could reach out to the sensor’s original manufacturer for their recommendations. However, if I were to conduct this experiment I would try the following:
approximately 13mm (~.5") of water
polished aluminum background to reflect as much light as possible and it’s corrosion resistant (depending on what exact chemicals might be in the water)
limit outside light exposure to at least 85% - 90% if possible, preferably black vulcanized rubber hosing and housing
Again, this recommendation is a personal opinion and isn’t meant to guarantee exact results. Please use at your own discretion.
