I submitted an order Dec 7. I have not yet received anything, order number 1021.
I inquired by email a couple of times and still have not received a response. I am trying this forum with the hopes someone who works for BatchPCB will at the least reply even if its just f@ck off.
I ordered my boards on Dec 3rd. They were received Dec 27th. Things are running a little slower than I had hoped, but be patient, you’ll get them. I was happy with the quality and I plan on ordering again.
I’m sure the holidays had something to do with the delay, also the new SFE site being launched surely has taken alot of Sparky’s resources.
btw…my order status still say’s “uploaded” to this day. Don’t expect the status to change to “shipped”
I don’t have any problem with the time it takes to get this done. 24 days is completely acceptable. However, the complete lack of a response to any inquiry is unacceptable. I have no idea what is going on, much less if they even received the order. I got an order confirmation, but what good is that? I would pay them 10 times if I knew it would help, but nothing, no response, nothing…
I am certain they can do nice work, if one ever gets an order. It should be nice for $13 shipping on 10oz of board. I doubt I can afford to ever work with them again. Even eastern-european companies respond, however illegible.
I believe the 13 includes the 10 base fee. It’s not well spelled out but consider the total cost (s&h + pcb) it’s still a bargain. If it were my service, I’d seperate out shipping from the processing fee.
I agree that order status could be better done and my comments on border calcs are still valid. However, I dare you to find a more cost effective service.
the new website runs onthe same engine as batchpcb, so now there are not two different systems to work with, and staff at sparkfun can learn how to run things properly (there are a hell of a lot more orders though the sparkfun site, than batchpcb).
I’m quickly learning front-ends are easy. You can pay developers and artists to make things look snazzy and run smoothly.
Back-ends on the other hand - ick! Start looking for software under $10k that will barely approach the order processing, handling functions, and speed SFE and BatchPCB need, and people laugh. It’s just not there.
So we’ve rolled our own DB/Access interface. The new SFE customer DB is super slick and the BatchPCB is benefitting from the learned knowledge.
At this time:
All BatchPCB orders placed after 1-1-06 will have full tracking.
You’ll see your order see the order status for your orders in Blue once you log-in under ‘My Account’.
The order status starts at ‘Waiting Panelization’ once you’ve placed your order. On Mondays, this should change to ‘Panelized’ when your design gets placed on the weeks’ panel. If there are problems with your order, you will be notified of any forced order cancelations (we are still seeing gerber layers mirrored, bad drill files, and mis-aligned layers).
Once we get the panel back from Gold Phoenix, you should see a flurry of status changes from ‘Invoice Printed’, ‘Label Printed’, finally to shipped.
We will provide the tracking number in the shipping confirmation email as well as on the website.
I fixed a bug with the shipping_method variable and touched up the order status preview screen a bit. Any other site recommendations are glady appreciated.
It looks like you and I are in a very similar boat kevinko. My file was submitted a day before yours and I still haven’t received the boards.
I got the same email about being split up before Christmas. I noticed after receiving that email that my order status at batchpcb changed, first to “new order”, and now it says “panelized.” It looks like they might be running it again.
Ya, looks like a snow job to me. I just love how the days go by and no word about what is going on. The only message I get is wait longer, and if it still doesn’t come I’ll run it again.
Listen you know you never ran the job in the first place, why screw with me like this. Just tell me you didn’t run it and run the job again. I don’t see why this isn’t just standard practice.
All of you with your nice stories, that’s great I am happy for you. If I had a happy story I would tell you too. Keep 'em comming.
This is really the problems we’ve had since the beginning. I wanted to shutdown the service last year (‘What’s a Gerber?’ posting : http://www.sparkfun.com/cgi-bin/phpbb/v … php?t=1107) but we had such a response to keep it going, we rolled up our sleeves and tried to make things more stream lined.
The new site seems to be working well. Much less problem designs but screwy things going on. We still get a few customers with mirrored layers and mis-aligned drill files. But it’s going.
Panel 49 (Orders 51-56) were significantly delayed because of a bug in the DRC bot. It arbitrarily created two Panel directories and we only ran one. We gave partial refunds to each order we screwed up and had the designs produced as soon as we discovered the problem.
The entire process slows down to molasis when you add the problems of the holidays, christmas, new year, chinese new year. Production stops, shipping gets longer, customs shuts down. It’s bad now, and should clear up in a few weeks after Feb 6th (end of new year holiday).
But - Gold Phoenix keeps dropping designs from our panels. So even if everything goes as planned and GP produces the board in a timely fashion, their QC department may kill a copy of a design. We are trying to figure out a way to improve all this. Any suggestions are greatly apprciated.
41 days is atypical, but there were some culprits that are out of our control.

How long should it take from “Lable Printed” to the Shipping confirmation. My order (#2005) , submitted on Dec 19, showed “Lable Printed” status on 1/18. But there is no shipping confirmation yet.

Never mind. The boards came Yeaterday. As other have said, they look great. I ordred on the 19th and they came on thwe 24th (with 3 Day shipping option). 35 days over a major holiday period. Not bad

Thanks

Never mind. The boards came Yesterday. I agree with others in that the boards look great. 35 Days turn around is not bad considering the major holiday period
