PCB Wizard 3

Has anyone used this program for making pcb’s? It looks like a very good program, and user friendly.

be sure to check out the online videos…

I downloaded and played with it for a few minutes. It seems geared for the student or rank beginner. It didn’t seem to have a lot of library components and I didn’t see a component editor. It’s interface while fairly easy to pick up seemed like you had to do a lot of clicking to do simple actions. like change a component value, for example (mouse over component. right click, select properties, click on value box, enter number, select units). Eagle is 2 clicks and enter the value string, subsequent value changes are just one click. rotating a component, a very common operation, requires selecting a rotate tool. (eagle is a right click while dragging the component for placement).

The demo version wouldn’t let me create a PCB so i can’t comment on how that goes.

Based on a brief look, I saw nothing to recommend it over eagle other than a more obvious windows interface. Eagle has a free version that allows you to enter a schematic, create a pcb and output the gerber files for fab’ing. hard to beat. PCBW has a crippled trial version.
