pHAT for Solenoids?

I recently purchased the SparkFun Servo pHAT for Raspberry Pi and it has been very fun and useful. However, I’d like to control a bunch of solenoids from my raspberry pi for a different project, and I wondered if there is a similar product as above, but geared towards solenoids? I didn’t see one on the site. I was hoping to control 8-12 solenoids from one Pi Zero and don’t know how to do it.

Please forgive my relative inexperience if I’ve named or explained something poorly!

Thanks,

Chris

I’m guessing you’re looking for something like this? https://www.sparkfun.com/products/16566 You can control 8 easily by just chaining 2 (change the ADR jumper on one, disable the i2c pull ups on one)

To control 12 you’d need to add a mux like https://www.sparkfun.com/products/16784 that can create virtual i2c addresses to use 3 quad relays (and be able to control up to 8 quad relays off one mux)

I’d use discrete outputs and solid state optos.

The OPTO22 products are beefy and nice to work with both on the bench and in the field, in the cabinet, under the dashboard, etc. This one is 8 channel but there are different sizes.

The modules are available in a huge variety & often with indication LEDs and fused.

Of course, there are plenty of knock offs.
