PIC32 and Bluetooth Dongle

I’m working on a palm-sized quadcopter as a pastime project with a PIC32mx795f512h as the main controller for its USB hosting and 80mhz clock capabilities. For the radio I have decided on communicating with the Sparkfun Bluetooth USB Module Mini http://www.sparkfun.com/products/9434because it’s REALLY cheap, light, and small.

Has anybody had any experience using the PIC32 series as a USB host, or can point me in the right direction as how to begin?

mbed is the only platform I’ve been able to find using a dongle specifically like this one. Thanks!

Not going to fly very far using Bluetooth.

Description: This is a handy little Bluetooth USB mini-adapter. This adapter supports Bluetooth v2.0 class 1 and has a maximum distance of up to 100m. The adapter also includes an indicator LED. Great for laptops and if you’re on the go!

This is one of the reasons why i think Bluetooth wold be a good option, something palm-sized you ideally wouldn’t want to be trying to fly more than 80 or so feet away at max. I probably should have included that I intend to fly this inside. Such light aircraft (<40 grams) don’t fare well in the wind.
