Piranha LED pinout

Hi,

I am going to purchase several hundred of your Piranha / Super Flux LED (assuming you have stock).

https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11679

COM-11679

MPN : YSRGB7A5BSW25

I need the pinout.

Amusingly enough, the datasheet doesn’t mention it. I have seen some guesses in the comments on the product page along the lines of “surely the chamfer must be the cathode”, but they conflict with the only other source of information - your Eagle library part.

I really need a canonical reference ASAP. I’m sending out a PCB design, ordering a few hundred boards, and I can’t wait for the LED’s to arrive!

Can you provide a proper datasheet, or some assurance that the eagle library part (SparkFun-LED.lbr / LED_PIRANHA_5MM)

is correct?

Best regards,

jeffmakes

Hi Jeff.

Unfortunately the only datasheet we have is the one on the product page, but LED_PIRANHA_5MM is the correct Eagle part for COM-11679.

NOTE: It’s important to know that the Eagle part assumes you’re mounting the LED on the bottom of the board NOT the top. Not sure why it was done that way, only thing I can think of is whatever product we made the Eagle library for needed the LED on the bottom of the board.

It’s best to double check, but we have the pinout as follows when viewed from below:

  • - Pin 1 is green
  • - Pin 2 is blue
  • - Pin 3 is the common cathode
  • - Pin 4 is red.
  • Hope this helps you!
