Hello,
Is there a way trigger a scan using a PLC controlled relay attached to the board while USB C cable is outputting scans to a computer. I and wondering if this can be done by connecting pins (Trig to STAT)? Or if there are any precautions to soldering an additional switch in parallel with the push button.
It looks like triggering can be easily handled by a remote input.
Simply ground the terminal as shown below.
Even in a highly controlled environment, it’s likely you’ll hit some problems with missed scans pretty quick. Sometimes, it takes a second pass/trigger event and reads in fine, nothing else changed: ‘That was weird!’ Other times, a minor angle change + second trigger event is required. A smudge of debris, a wrinkle or fold. Others, even though the barcode looks fine, is just won’t scan, maybe a border ‘quiet zone’ problem, dirty printhead, illegal character, etc.
When it’s you or I, we shrug and do it again, set it to the side, straighten out the surface, wipe it off and so forth. Your PLC will need to anticipate this inevitability.
