From customer A. Catanoa via email:
I need a AVR-PG1 programer but looking at the PonyProg program this program only supports serial ports 1 and 3. The problem is that I am using port 9. Please advice if I can use this programmer with the PonyProg software.
It sounds like you are using a USB to RS232 adapter? I’ve never heard of a computer having a true physical serial port on com 9. You would have to have quite a few serial port extension cards to get up to 9.
I would not recommend using a USB adapter with the PG1 - I’ve never tried one with the AVR-PG1 or AVR-PG2 (parallel). It might work, but I have my doubts.
Sound like PonyProg only has software options for com 1-4. To get it to work with the PonyProg software you will need to force your comport to a different number. This is common place with USB dongles. Open up the device manager and look at the properties of the com port 9. In the advanced tab you will be able to force it to go to a lower number com port. Pony Prog should then enable the radio button for that port.
Good luck and let me know if I’m way off,
-Nathan
