I just assembled a Dragon Rider 500 (with Dragon) and arranged the jumpers for an ATmega88 as shown in the [instructable here. I am using the USB connection as the voltage source.
But when I load up AVR studio, I get an error saying it is unable to connect to the Dragon via ISP mode. I was able to immediately make an upgrade, and the Dragon is recognized when I connect. But I can’t perform any functions through ISP. The only things it detects is HW Revision and target voltage. Funny thing is, the target voltage is read as “0.1” for “VTarget”.
I am assuming 0.1V is far too low for a target voltage? Anyone else with Dragon, or Dragon Rider experience? I’m anxious to get the AVR programmed for the first time using this new toy.
And are these common symptoms for a malfunctioning Dragon? I understand from here, and the other avr board, that these Dragons tend to die prematurely (or on arrival) sometimes.
Thank you.](http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-use-the-Dragon-Rider-500-with-your-AVR-Drag/)
