Hi, I purchased the AVR-JTAG and tried it using AVR Studio 4.09 (338). I plugged in the device and AVR Studio wanted to update the firmware before using. If I click OK, will it update the device? (or damage it?).
Switching back to AVR Studio 4.08 doesn’t want to update the device and it’s a solution for now.
Regardless, I tried to follow the procedure to update the firmware on http://www.olimex.com/dev/avr-jtag-upgrade.html. So I have the AVR ISP (STK200/300) parallel port interface (design at http://www.lancos.com/e2p/avrisp-stk200.gif) and I connected the JTAG pins to the parallel port programmer pins according to the firmware update instructions. I also connected the reset to the parallel port programmer pin 5. Unfortunately, this failed to update or change the fuse bits. When attempting to communicate, the red LED blinks a few times then PonyProg gives error -24, unknown device.
So is it possible to update the AVR-JTAG firmware using this current setup?
