Pulse Oximeter and Heart Rate Sensor through a piece of transparent plastic?

Hello! I was wondering if anyone has tried using the SEN-15219 part through a piece of say 1/8th inch transparent acrylic?

For my application, I need to be able to read the heart rate of someone, then be able to clean the surface easily, so something that has to attach to someone via like a rubber band is out of the question.

It might be possible but most likely highly inconsistent. I would suggest trying to use a 1/16in if possible.
