Putty connection hangs after couple of seconds

I’m using IMU 6 Degrees of Freedom - v2 with Bluetooth/ADXRS300 Gyroscope to collect data via Putty. The connection is based on Serial Port virtualized by Bluetooth. The problem is when I hit ^g to collect the data, the putty hangs there after around 5 seconds.

I had the same problem before, but was able to recover by pressing the reset button and turning the power off and on. But recently no matter what I do the data collection still hangs. I’m sure it’s not the battery’s problem.

Does anyone know what could be the problem and how to fix it? Thanks.

There seems to be an issue with either the firmware or the bluetooth module on the IMU 6 DOF v2 that causes the connection to be dropped shortly after the start of data being sent (and possibly other versions; someone with a v4 also posted a problem with their connection being dropped).

One solution I’ve found is to simply wait 1 minute after turning the device on before starting data collection (i.e. pressing + g). It shouldn’t matter if the device is just on and idle, or if it is connected via bluetooth and idle.

Hope this helps ; )

Thanks, man. It definitely helps. I confirmed with technical support that the reason is there is a 60 seconds timer in the device, which has to be turned off before the device can work properly.
