RCWL-0516 Radar module failure

Feedback

How can we help you?: I purchased 2 of the RCWL-0516 modules. Tried several circuit arrangements with no success. Searched, found other users have the same symptom. Any ideas? Maybe someone can do a video on that unit.

I’d poke through these

Thanks for the reply.

I researched many of the vids about the unit, they all
looked like it was easy to use. I guess the 2 units I have are defective.

I tried power from a 9V battery and a wall wart supply stated to be 9v that
measured 13.5 unloaded. Each unit ( i tried both units) would turn on
the LED for 2 seconds then off. at that point neither unit would respond to
my hand or a metal object.

I guess I should trash them and look for another RADAR unit from China.

There are a number of situations in which that sensor simply does not work. Large open spaces, or outdoors are an example, because the sensor detects motion by changes in standing waves that it sets up in the immediate environment.

This thread may be helpful, but Roger Clark’s site is gone (Wayback Machine link Investigating a RCWL 9196 / RCWL-0516 “Radar” motion detector module – Roger Clark).
