Garmin LIDAR-Lite v4 LED - Distance Measurement Sensor - RC Boat installation questions

I would like to use this Lidar device or a similar one you may propose to build a proximity sensor for and rc board drone which has to stop if it determines that there is an obstacle in front of it day or night.

The height from water is 10-15 cm and I need to attach it to an Arduino device.

My problem is that if I make an enclosure for the electronics, if water splashed in front of the sensor will disable it or even worse will penetrate the covers and destroy it.

Do you have any suggestions?

Maybe go around every seam and seal it with hot glue, super glue, silicone sealant, or similar? The lenses use concentric rings to direct the light, so if you only seal the perimeter you’ll avoid interfering with their use (for the most part…your goal is to minimize the spillage)

Then make an enclosure and/or a splash shield and affix it and that’s probably as good as you’re going to be able to get
