Red-V Thing Plus fix replacing R8 with 100 Ohm

Hi Sparkfun,

While I found R8 on the schematic for the Red-V Thing Plus, it has been all but impossible to identify the miscreant resistor on the board (as I didn’t look at the eagle file). So pulled out my SMT multimeter and after measuring every resistor on the first-gen board and 2nd-gen board. Think I found R8, but would appreciate confirmation that this is it before attempting micro-soldering surgery [plus this post helps all the others who got the first-gen boards]…

Btw, didn’t get the replacement resistor with the new board, but found 0603 100ohm 5% are just $0.005/each for 100.

Hello infx-prof,

I can confirm that that is the R8 resistor that needs to be replaced with a 100 ohm resistor. I’ll communicate with our documentation team to try and make that fix more easily visible.

Thank you!

Yep, you have the right resistor!

You might give Eagle try though, it makes finding those kind of things so much easier.

And, Eagle can be [downloaded for Free!
