I had students following the tutorial for the Sparkfun Inventor’s Kit for Redbot. They finished the assembly, but could not get the wheels to turn. When I checked their assembly, it was correct, but the motor driver TB312A46612FNG was extremely hot to the touch. We unplugged it, turned the power switch to OFF, and plugged in the battery pack again and the motor driver became hot in seconds. I suspect that it is shorted outside of the control of the power switch. How can we resolve this?
That’s been a retired product for a few years now, so there’s not a lot to be done on our side
But you can share some photos of the wiring, board, battery pack and whatnot to see if someone can spot a short or something
We bought it six months ago.
Are we just out of luck and need to buy a new Redbot Mainboard and hope that it doesn’t have the same issue?

Apologies, I mis-read the retiring date (earlier this year)
