RFID - Question

Hi there guys,

I am just about to start my final year project in my computer Engineering degree.

I want to use RFID as one of the technologies.

The problem i am hitting is the read range. I need a read range of about 2 feet.

From reading up it looks like i will need a Active RFID reader and tag or a Battery Assisted Tag and reader.

Do you guys know where i might be able to find a reader and tag?

Key question: does tag have to have ID#? If yes, it’s a different world.

Passive: no inexpensive readers for 2 ft range.

common 802.15.4 in tag/badge packaging w/small battery. Thus, no expensive reader.
