I am thinking of ordering a couple of these modules to experiment with. I am almost positive that the rfm12b’s + pics would be fast enough to do what I need them to do. I want to create a set of wireless camera flash triggers. I know there is some one doing this with amtel’s and the same module.
What I need to know is what kind of lag time is there with the spi interface? How long would it take to transmit say one byte of data from pic1 to pic2 and decode that byte?
There wouldn’t be any difference in timing between a PIC project and the AVR Strobit project. I seem to remember the fastest they could sync was 1/250th, which is as good as the Chinese triggers. If you want to go faster you’ll need a faster module.
1/250th would be ideal for what I need. I am going to make a few changes to there design. Like not using an lcd to keep costs down. I’m going to bite the bullet and order a couple rfm12b’s as I have wanted to do other wireless stuff and this is as good a way as any to start learning it.
