Hi all,
I’ve got an RN-42 that I’d like to have connect automatically to any Android smartphone within range. Reading the spec sheet here[1], it looks like I want the module in “Auto-connect ANY mode (SM,5)”. I connected to the RN-42 with my Android phone, put it into command mode, and changed the mode to auto-connect any, and the device responded with “AOK”. I then rebooted by sending the command R,1, and it rebooted. So far so good.
I’m having trouble now getting the RN-42 to actually connect. The spec sheet says that each time the “Switch/PIO” (I assume they’re referring to PIO6?) is set on, the module attempts to connect to the first device it sees. This doesn’t seem to be happening. What I’m confused about is what pin I’m supposed to be setting high to start the scan - I’m using this[2] breakout board, and that datasheet (which doesn’t mention anything about command modes) says that “GPIO6” is “Data TX/RX”, and doesn’t mention what pin should be used to begin scanning if the module is in auto connect mode.
Has anyone tried to do something like this before? Any advice?
Thanks!
