I’m having a heck of a time pairing my RN-42 HID with my Blackberry Curve 9360 or my HTC 8X (Windows Phone 8). Initially the module appears to connect then after a few seconds the connection is lost. I feel as if I have tried every profile and configuration available but haven’t been successful. Has anyone had any success with either of these devices?
Have you been able sustain a connection with another device, such as through an Android phone or a laptop? In other words, can you confirm that your phone is to blame?
It does remain connected to my laptop. I do believe the problem is related to the profiles the phones supports but I’m surprised it occurs with both the blackberry and the windows phone.
Can you use the RN-42 as an input device before the connection drops out? I wonder if perhaps the phone doesn’t see any packets from the HID for a certain amount of time, then drops the connection to save power. If you’re saavy enough, you could probably learn alot by sniffing the connection with an Ubertooth One (https://www.sparkfun.com/products/10573) and watching the traffic in Wireshark. This might tell you if the phone is looking for something that the RN-42 is failing to produce. Just a guess.
Alternatively, you could just get an Android phone.
