Roostick Problems

I am trying to install the drivers for roostick. I install them and they say it is finished. But, when I plug in the connection to the roomba, it does not do anything. It doesn’t see the device. When i plug the roomba end in, it gives me a beep (normal, I think.)

This is frustrating and I can use some advice, please.

I bought the RooStick and cables from SparkFun. I bought an 8 pin mini cable that was said to work with the roostick and the roomba. Now, I have seen on the website that it needs a 7 pin cable. Which is right?
