RTK Facet and PointPerfect not getting corrections

I recently bought a Facet and I’m trying to set it up. I’ve done the following:

  1. Connected it to my home WiFi

  2. Setup my Thingstream account on the Facet

  3. Verified the connection on Thingstream’s website and it says “Connected”

I’ve also tried to set it up with SW Maps (I use an iPhone) but I can’t get it to receive any correction data, the dot never goes green, it’s only showing up in blue.

Here’s a screen dump from the Facet connected with USB:

I did a test and used rtk2go.com and then I got 0.0038 m of accuracy.

Why is not Thingstream givning me that accuracy instead of 0.57 m?

Hey PerE,

From my experience, PointPerfect over IP is slower and less accurate than PointPerfect over L-Band, and any SSR type service that uses modelled data will have worse performance than a physical reference station providing RTCM over radio or in a VRS configuration.

I’ve never seen anything as bad as .5 m RTK Fix from PointPerfect though; I think you have an error in your setup. What format are the correction messages in? Are these SPARTN, or RTCM?

Hello swells!

I’m pretty sure it’s RTCM, but how can I verify that?

Hey PerE,

Actually, I just read up on it a bit, and it turns out that PointPerfect does not yet offer RTCM for NTRIP. I’d read that it was a pending feature a few months back, but it looks like it hasn’t been rolled out yet. That means that you are pulling in SPARTN data over IP.

Our firmware supports RTCM over IP (like from an NTRIP Caster or UDP source), but not SPARTN over IP. There is no hardware reason that this cannot work (in fact the ZED-F9P is well suited to it), but we haven’t seen demand for this particular use case, and so have never implemented it.

The accuracy with rtk2go was 0.038 m and nothing else, I typed a zero to much.
