RTK Torch PointPerfect

Does the RTK Torch support PointPerfect corrections via L-Band?

Yep, “The RTK Torch includes a feature we call Zero-Touch RTK. Give the device the WiFi credentials for a hot spot or other WiFi network and it will begin getting corrections without any further setup. No NTRIP credentials required! These corrections are obtained over WiFi from u-blox PointPerfect and are available in the US, EU, and various parts of Australia, Canada, Brazil, and Korea (see the coverage map). The RTK Torch includes a one month free subscription to PointPerfect. Additional subscriptions can be purchased if desired. If PointPerfect coverage is not available in your area, corrections from a local base station or service can be provided to the device over NTRIP (delivered via Bluetooth or WiFi).”

Can you get the RTK correctional data (serial) through the USB or is USB strictly for power only?

Does the correctional data only get transmitted through serial via WiFi?

Also, what is the the thread pattern/size for the mounting of the torch onto a tripod?

Hi,

I’ve been trying to use this capability of the RTK Torch with my PointPerfect subscription, but we are having significant issues with setup. I could connect as usual to the torch on my phone bluetooth, but it would not switch from single to float or fix after 10+ minutes. Plus the torch bluetooth would drop every minute or so and the tracks were still off by a few feet. I’m following the setup procedure listed here (PointPerfect Corrections section): Quick Start - RTK Torch - SparkFun RTK Everywhere Product Manual

Any advice is welcome as we have been unsuccessful for quite a while.

Are you using it somewhere with a clear view of the sky? Are you using Android or iOS?

Originally we were using it indoors but we switched to outside to set it up as well and the problem is still occurring. We are using iOS but I had that thought as well so we are waiting to get an Andriod product as well. Do you think it is iOS compatibility?

The bluetooth problem might be; make sure to put the phone into BLE mode for BT Quick Start - RTK Torch - SparkFun RTK Everywhere Product Manual

Outdoors with a clear with of the sky you should be able to get a fix within couple minutes…did it get RTK outdoors? Also note the link has a section where you’ll need to go into the torch’s settings and enable PointPerfect

are you referencing point 6. " Under the [PointPerfect Configuration menu], Enable PointPefect Corrections and select your Geographic Region. If desired, enable Localized Correction and AssistNow." or something else?

That is precisely what I was referring to…but go through the whole quick start (skip the android section unless swapping over to android) and you should be all set

Yes so, this is the manual we’ve been trying for the past couple of days and it continues to fail to connect the torch to our devices. We’ve also recently started to have issues with bluetooth connectivity. Do you have any advice about this?
