RTK facet Base and Rover direct comms?

I’m just learning about RTK…

We’d like to be able to go out in the field, setup 1 Facet unit as a base, and 1 Facet unit as a rover. I’m guessing the base unit will need internet connectivity for the NTRIP server. I suppose a cell phone can run a wifi hotspot and the base can connect to it for connectivity. Then, it appears we would need another mobile phone connected to the rover for it’s connectivity.

Is there a way for the rover to get the correction data directly from the base over wifi? I understand the range would be limited to the espressif wifi connection range.

Correct me if I’m thinking wrong. Also, any other options to do this?

You only need one data up/downlink (one cell phone’s data); the base can send the correction data to the rover over WiFi, Bluetooth, or using serial radios (or LoRa) https://docs.sparkfun.com/SparkFun_RTK_ … transport/

Like you mentioned, the main limiting factor will be the range of whichever method (radio > wifi > bluetooth)
