RTK Postcard & Portablity Shield not working on battery

I have a Portability shield mounted on top of a RTK Postcard. Everything is working fine when plugged into USB. When I try to run off battery, It does not start and has a blank screen. No lights anywhere on either of the boards. The Battery is at 4.0V. Next I tried plugging the usb back in and it boots then immediately “Charge Battery” comes up on screen and nothing else happens. Yes Power switch is on. Lights on RTK board are also on so gps seems to be working. ??

Should the “MEAS” taps have a solder bridge like this?

I doubt that your battery is not supplying sufficient current for the whole setup. Even if it is a 4V battery, measure the voltage with a multimeter.

It looks like there should be a small bridge, your unit looks more like a medium bridge to me Hardware Overview - SparkFun Portability Shield Hookup Guide

It might be worth wicking some of that off

Double-check the polarity of the battery vs our connector (labeled), and as suggested above see what voltage the battery is outputting while hooked up

Standalone Battery is sitting at a measured 4.0V.

Yep. Lookes like polarity reversed.

Reversed the Pins and it works. Thanks! I would strongly suggest someone put a large note on the product hookup page about this. I looked on amazon and the first 15 or so 3.7v lipo with JST connectors that I found were wired this way. i.e. the opposite the Portability shield is wired?

Awesome!

There’s no industry standard, we just make sure all of ours match the other products and the lipos that we sell
