i am new to the MSP and i wanted to set up a crystal oscillator on the MSP430f169. I am using the MSP-TS430PM64 FET board, and i see a place for an external clock source, but i do not know how to configure it, if anyone could help i would greatly appreciate it.
You have the option of adding the 8MHz crystal either at XIN & XOUT (pins 8 & 9) or at XT2IN & XT2OUT (pins 53 & 52). I think the latter choice gives you more flexibility for future expansion. But you have to make the call.
TI has specification of characteristics of the crystal to use and how to calculate the value of the two small capacitors to be added at each terminal of the crystal. But if your application is not that critical and you are not going to manufacture large quantities, you can use just about any “standardâ€
