Electronics is not my specialty so as a fist timer I am looking for confirmation or advice on this. I am a news photog that covers sports, among other things, and want to make a cable with a switch (low profile button) to fire a remote trigger, that in turn fires a remote camera. I am using PocketWizards, and its too awkward to fire the PocketWizard via the test button while holding the camera. Sony cameras don’t mate with PocketWizards via the hot shoe as other brands do.
I want to selectively fire the PocketWizard for downcourt action at NBA games, not fire the remote camera every time I fire my handheld camera, because it creates too many dead frames and makes the edit very time consuming. I want to mount a low profile switch onto my handheld lens (either via velcro or and elastic strap around the lens) so I can hit the button and fire only when there is action under that downcourt basket. I’ll share links to the trigger below.
I want a switch that fires continuously as long as I am pressing the button and stops firing as soon as I release my finger from the button. I am assuming that a momentary switch is the correct one? Also, the cable in the link below is what I have, so I can cut the end that connects to the camera and wire the switch to that end? The velcro or elastic part I can handle myself.
Finally, links of a few switches I have in my shopping cart. Do they look like the right ones?
Thank you.
