SM-42BYG011-25-090327 | Power supply

Good morning,

I would like to get some clarification on this stepper motor:

https://www.sparkfun.com/datasheets/Rob … 011-25.pdf

From the datasheet I read that the supply voltage is 12V. Having a driver board that works up to 30V, could I still power the motor at 24V to have more power available?

Could I damage the motor?

Thanks in advance for any help,

Matthew

Sort of; you’d need to only apply a short duty cycle or otherwise it’ll cook the motor

This post has a good explanation

So…yes and no. There are 24v stepper motors available elsewhere as well that might be better suited if your project requires such
