SMT parts on bottom layer in Eagle

I just bought Eagle v5, works great except I have a question.

How do you move SMT parts to the bottom layer, with wires under properties(info) you just select the layer… Theirs gotta be a way to shuffle them back and it would do wonders for my design densities.

I posted in cadsoft newsgroup but its a terrible system…

Hi IceBlu,

you had 2 replies in cadsoft newsgroup: one in userchat and one in support forums. The command to be used (in the board editor, not in the schematic) is MIRROR, try help for it (HELP MIRROR)

hope this helps

Just a little trick… if you’ve picked up a part with the ‘move’ command, you can flip it to the bottom side by clicking the middle mouse button. It’s the same effect at the ‘mirror’ command, just on-the-fly.

I use Eagle v4.15, but hopefully they didn’t change that.

Thanks, In the support newsgroup a guy replied ‘help mirror’ and I totally thought he meant goto the support help mirror which doesn’t exist…

I made double posts, figured someone would give me an answer in sentence form.

Another question, when your making a grounding plane ‘poly GND’ solid fill I can easily get it 10mill isolation but the plane is always 100-200mill away from the edges of the board. How does everyone have theirs set up for good solid fills?

Hi iceblu,

about your last post, if I’ve understood your point, it shuold be the setting of your design rule file (.dru) under “distance” tab, “Copper/dimension” parameter.

bye
