SMT XBee Sockets

I’m trying to find the surface mount XBee sockets like are used on the newer XBee Explorer boards. Does anyone know a source for them?

Thanks!

Do you have a picture of the newer explorer boards?

Here’s a link to the picture. Sorry for the poor quality (took it with my phone).

The connector has 10 pins, 5 on either side, perpendicular to the socket.

Thanks again.

since the through hole connectors use flat pins you can very easily bend them to the side in an alternating pattern. I’ve done that on custom boards and it worked well, you may have to trim the pins so they fit nicely on the pads for that board.

The quote below is from a Digi data sheet. I’d recommend buying directly from Samtec rather than one of their distributors.

The receptacles used on Digi development boards are manufactured by Century Interconnect.

Several other manufacturers provide comparable mounting solutions; however, Digi currently uses

the following receptacles:

• Through-hole single-row receptacles -

Samtec P/N: MMS-110-01-L-SV (or equivalent)

• Surface-mount double-row receptacles -

Century Interconnect P/N: CPRMSL20-D-0-1 (or equivalent)

• Surface-mount single-row receptacles -

Samtec P/N: SMM-110-02-SM-S

Thanks for the replies. I never thought about bending the pins, I’ll give that a go for now and maybe look at Samtec if I ever need several of them.
